Gas Price Gouging: You're Being Robbed at the Pump and OPEC is Laughing at You
Share
As you stand at the pump watching the numbers climb at a sickening pace, remember one thing: you are being robbed in broad daylight. The latest announcement from the OPEC+ cartel to boost oil production is being spun as potential relief, but it’s a smokescreen. For years, these foreign cartels and the Big Oil companies they work with have been engaged in a coordinated campaign of price gouging, and Canadian families are their favourite victims.
They’ll give you a laundry list of excuses: global instability, refinery capacity, supply chain issues, and of course, the carbon tax. While some of these are factors, they are a convenient cover for the real story: obscene, record-breaking corporate profits. While you are trying to figure out if you can afford to drive to work, oil and gas giants are posting profits so massive they are almost impossible to comprehend. They are swimming in cash, and that cash came directly from your wallet.
Our own government is complicit. Instead of cracking down on this corporate profiteering, they slap on more taxes, making the problem even worse. We are a major oil-producing nation, yet we are held hostage by the whims of foreign dictators and the greed of multinational corporations. You’re not paying the true cost of gasoline; you’re paying the price of corporate greed and government incompetence. And they are laughing all the way to the bank.
